According to the September 2006 study, Building Literacy Skills Through Reading Buddies by Jasmin Tiessen and Dawn Dust, both the younger and the older students in a reading buddy program will reap great benefits! The younger students enjoy a safe and happy friendship while working on their social skills.  The older students think it's super cool to "teach" the younger students and increase their own reading confidence and self esteem.  Students at Smith enjoy time with reading buddies in the Smith Reads Library.  The smiles on their faces and the excitement the library is enough to convince us that we will have more reading buddy time in the future!
