It is time to close the door on another successful Children's Book Week at Smith Elementary.  May 4-8 was full of fun spirit days and events to celebrate books. Students and teachers enjoyed the fun all week long right along side Teacher Appreciation Week and Open House and the Frisco Family Services canned food drive!

Children’s Book Week 2015 was a HUGE success!  The SMITH READS Library hosted two authors during this year's book week.  Michelle Staubach Grimes and Marc Tyler Nobleman!  You can read about our Super Hero author visit with Marc on his blog at:…   Thank you to the Smith PTA for funding Marc's visit for our students!!!  The Smith PTA also funded the free book giveaways during Children's Book Week.  Each year EVERY student at Smith receives a free paperback during Children's Book Week to get ready for summer reading.  Thanks to our generous PTA for making this possible!!!

Smith celebrated books by dressing like book characters, wearing hats, showing their school spirit and more!  Friday’s Smith Book Idol, performed by your Smith Staff was a big hit.  Judges who made an appearance were Janis O’Lopez, Randy Baker Jackson, Keith Suburban and Simon Cowbell.  Students are still talking about how much fun the week was!  Each reader at Smith was also able to choose a free Scholastic paperback book on behalf of the SMITH READS Library and the Smith PTA!  Thank you to the Smith PTA for your generous contributions to the library and the Smith students!!!
