Smith Reads Sock Hop

Students piloted a new reading challenge this year.  Children in grades 3, 4 and 5 were asked to read at least 20 books of their choosing.  Most readers read between 25-75 books!  This reading challenge was fashioned after Donalyn Miller's, 20 Book Challenge.  Miller is also the creator of #bookaday, where educators spend their summer reading one book each day to expand their knowledge of children's literature.  Check out the #bookaday on Twitter for more info.

We ended our challenge with a fun sock hop and a free book compliments of the Smith Reads Library and the Smith PTA Book Fairs.  Enjoy the slideshow below.
